Discon III – My first Worldcon schedule

After years of planning to attend and, at the last minute, failing to, I’m finally set to – fingers crossed – attend my first Worldcon. This dubious distinction belongs to Discon III.

That’s right, friends. I’ll be in DC, come Dec 15th and will be haunting the corridors of the Omni Gatherum or whatever the name of the con hotel is (okay, okay, I kid — the name’s Omni Shoreham).

Here’s where you can find me, besides the Book Room (I hope there’s a Book Room shaped like a giant book with a book cover for a door . . . but I digress):

Thu                1:00 PM          1 Hr               Forum Room                Is There a Doctor in the House?
Thu                4:00 PM          50 Min          Capitol Room              Readings – Meg Elison and Usman T. Malik
Thu                5:30 PM          1 Hr               Forum Room                Finding the Authorial Voice
Thu                7:00 PM          1 Hr               Kress                                Horror as Social Commentary
Fri                   4:00 PM          1 Hr               Older                               Non-European Vampires
Sat                  10:00 AM       1 Hr                Empire Ballroom         The Culture of the Unconquered
Sat                  11:30 AM       1 Hr               Thomas                           Cultures of Fear
Sat                  1:00 PM          1 Hr               Thomas                           Worldbuilding in Speculative Horror

Maybe I’ll see some of you there?

Please know that I’m very open to meeting new people and chatting. If you’re someone new to the con or SF scene and you see me, please come up and say hi.

Not sure yet whether I will have a signing time assigned or not, but I will have copies of Midnight Doorways: Fables from Pakistan with me that I’d be delighted to get rid of at the con – don’t want to lug them all back to Florida with me. Aaaand I’ll be happy to sign your copy of the book if you already have one (thank you for your readership, lovely reader friend).

Please also know that this year we have a mini-contingent of Pakistani spec-fic writers hanging out at Worldcon, which is awesome and I’m quite excited for it.

Stay safe, all. See you at the con!
